Smart Cards
It's hard to imagine where we would be today without smart cards. International ISO standards now ensure that cards are compatible in every corner of the globe. Cards can be equipped with magnetic strips, storage chips or processor chips and read via special contacts in the reader unit.
A further genre of cards - remote-read cards - is equipped with an antenna/chip system and communicates with its surroundings via electromagnetic fields. Cards are manufactured by injection moulding using high-tech plastic materials such as ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), PC (polycarbonate) or PET (polyethylene).
It is also possible to use a selection of recyclable ABS materials as well as certain renewable raw material plastics.
For special application cards are also manufactured by punching systems using paper or PVC.
